[Esport] Activating Local Esports Led by University Students
Esport clubs from five universities in Busan will start revitalizing the region with SBXG.
Busan-based e-sports team SBXG has joined with local university students to promote local e-sports.
SBXG and e-sports clubs at five universities in Busan (Ultimate at Pusan National University, Game Zone at Kyungsung University, Two Much Game at Dongseo University, Game Crew at Dong-A University, and East Whale Gaming at Pukyong National University) signed a “business agreement for fostering human resources in the e-sports field and revitalizing local e-sports culture” at BEXCO on April 7th.
The agreement states that SBXG and e-sports clubs from five university in Busan will establish a cooperative relationship to spread the e-sports culture. SBXG provides each university club with product support, content support, and job-linking activities. Five universities clubs in Busan decided to participate in SBXG offline events and support SBXG brand promotion.
Based on this agreement, local e-sports culture led by university students is expected to become active. This is because university students can meet with e-sports industry workers to raise their understanding and interest in the industry and experience business. The five university clubs decided to build a cooperative system to lower the barriers to entry into e-sports for university students and to make efforts to settle into a living culture. Currently, they plan to hold e-sports exchange events, offline events, and amateur competitions.
SBXG and the five university clubs participating in the agreement are all positive responses. Jung In-Mo (CEO, SBXG) said, “We have concluded a hometown agreement with Busan and have been striving for two years to revitalize local e-sports. We can collaborate with these five universities to create meaningful effects in Busan.” Ahn Si-Young (Dept. of Business Administration, 20), the president of the PNU e-sports club Ultimate, said, “Until now, there were many realistic constraints, so activities were mainly carried out only within the scope of the school. It is likely to be a stepping stone to the whole country starting with a collaboration with other universities in Busan.”
