The PNU women’s basketball team won the regular league with 12 undefeated matches.

On the 1st, The PNU women’s basketball team won the “2024 KUSF University Basketball Women’s U-League” after a match against Gwangju University. The last regular league game was held at Gwangju National University Gymnasium. In the game, the PNU Women’s Basketball Department won 81-72 and finished the season undefeated with 12 wins, setting a record for winning the championship in five years. It is expected that PNU will win this year’s championship after finishing the last game with a victory against Gwangju University, the strongest opponent.

PNU players delivered outstanding performances against Gwangju National University in the final game of the regular season. Five players, including Choi Ye-Bin (Dept. of Physical Education, 24), Hwang Chae-Yeon (Dept. of Physical Education, 22), and Choi Yu-Ji (Dept. of Physical Education, 24), scored more than 10 points to determine the outcome of the game. Player Choi Ye-Bin made five 3-point shots on the day, demonstrating her capability.

It was not easy to win the game against a strong opponent. PNU, which had won the game by two points until the second quarter, fell behind by one point at 52-53 in the second half of the third quarter. However, Choi Ye-bin’s three-point shooting in the fourth quarter widened the gap to win the game. She said, “Thanks to the older sisters, I achieved the record of finishing the season undefeated. I shot it comfortably because the older sisters helped me ease the pressure.”

After the regular season, PNU players are determined to do their best in the remaining games against Gwangju National University. Choi said, “I expect a tough game if I play against Gwangju National University again, and I will always do my best with the same mindset as before.”

The two schools will compete again in the women’s general team event at the National Sports Festival on October 12th at Samcheonpo Gymnasium. In November, they will compete with Gwangju National University for the title of the strongest team.
