PNU President Choi Jae-Weon announced that it will operate the "Open Office of the President" from October for transparency in university operations.

Pusan National University (PNU) will establish and operate a separate channel to promote communication among school members. As the President decides to meet with school members, two-way communication between the PNU Head Offices and it’s school members is expected to be activated.

On September 3rd, the PNU Head Offices announced it would operate an “Open Office of the President” in October involving PNU President Choi Jae-Weon. The Open Office of the President is one of the President’s “Arise PNU, Higher” pledges, and the plan is to provide a communication channel to improve trust in school management and strengthen the ability to respond to and solve school problems.

According to the Division of General Affairs, the Open Office of the President operates both online and offline. The “Open Communication Room” will be held face-to-face, including official documents, KORUS email, and SNS, and any school member can apply through the “Communication 365” menu on the website, which will be installed in October. Applications can be made on topics such as concerns, discussions, and policy suggestions about school management. When the applicant receives the application, the Office of the President will check and decide on the application subject, and a meeting with the President will be arranged. School members can choose various communication methods, including question-and-answer sessions, meetings, and brown bag meetings where they share their opinions over lunch.

The Open Communication Room will be held in various spaces in the PNU. They include the first meeting room of the Office of the President, Woon Jook Jung, an open learning space for libraries such as Saebyeok Maru(free reading seats), niche learning spaces, a Doteulbyeot on the 1st floor of the Moonchang Hall, and a PNU Museum (GaonNarae). Communication spaces are determined through consultation between the applicant and the Office of the President.

Online communication spaces will be provided on the PNU website. According to the Division of General Affairs, an online board will be operated with “Communication 365,” which allows students to apply for an open communication room on the PNU website, “Words and Writings,” which collects the President’s congratulatory speech and welcome messages, “Recent activities” equipped with photos and videos of the President’s activities, and “Presidential Pledge Box,” which organizes pledges and implementation rates.

The website is currently being created. Online and offline will be available from October when the website is completed. PNU President Choi Jae-Weon said, “It is important to establish a governance of freedom and trust that leads and supports the future of the PNU. This can be achieved by increasing transparency in university management and activating communication among members.” He added, “As a concrete specific plan, we promoted the operation of an ‘Open Office of the President,’ so I ask for your support and participation in the Hyowon family.”
