PNU, BUFS, and CUP unite for the 2025 Geumjeong Uni Festa, showcasing global talent and promoting cultural exchange.
Pusan National University (PNU), in collaboration with Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) and Catholic University of Pusan (CUP), is launching a multicultural exchange event for international students and local citizens.
On September 24th, PNU International announced that the 2025 Geumjeong Uni Festa will take place at 5 pm on November 19th, 2025 in the Grand Auditorium of PNU’s Student Union Building. Jointly hosted and organized by PNU, which is located in Busan's Geumjeong-gu, along with BUFS and CUP, this event aims to promote cultural exchange between international students of diverse nationalities and local residents.
This event expands upon the “ONE Festival,” an annual campus event held by PNU since 2009. As part of the Busan-type RISE project, the three universities organized this event, sharing a common vision of inter-university cooperation and the cultivation of global talent. The total budget of approximately 40 million won will be jointly funded by the three universities.
The event will feature a main talent show competition, along with invited performances by university clubs, a quiz event themed around Geumjeong-gu and Busan, celebratory performances, a prize drawing and an awards ceremony. The event is free and open to the public, including international students from the three universities, Korean students, and residents. In preparation, the three universities are currently dividing responsibilities — forming performance teams, arranging invited performances, and selecting operational staff.
The talent show stage will feature a total of nine teams - three from each university that passed preliminary rounds. They will receive the following awards: Grand Prize (1 team, 1.8 million won), Best Performance Award (1 team, 1.2 million won), Excellence Award (1 team, 900,000 won), Encouragement Award (6 teams, 500,000 won each). PNU accepted team applications until September 28th and held auditions (preliminary rounds) on October 1st. Applications for student emcees to host in English and for operations committee members were open until September 26th.
Regarding this event, the International Cooperation Office of PNU International stated, “We hope it will foster an atmosphere where domestic and international students interact with residents, promoting mutual understanding and embracing each other's cultures.” It added, “Through this event, the university will establish itself as an open space that actively engages with the local community and contributes to serving the mutually beneficial model between the university and the region, which is the goal of the Busan-style RISE project.”
